The 400,000 sf
office building serves as the American corporate headquarters
for SAP America, a European-based computer software company.
The building's role as a corporate headquarters demanded
that the project present a distinctive image, while its
context in rural Pennsylvania motivated sensitivity to
the natural landscape. The transparent glass exterior reflects
and dissolves the building's geometric form into the texture,
colors, and seasonal changes of the surrounding landscape.
A 1,000-foot uninterrupted atrium extends along the north
wall and acts as the main street of the building. The atrium
connects the three main floors of office space and serves
as the circulation link to the entrance lobby, auditorium,
conference rooms, convenience stores, and dining areas.
Expansive views of the surrounding landscape are afforded
from all points along the atrium. |
